Geetha Ramasesh
The best way to explain an artist’s life is to look at her work. Geetha’s work speaks for her life and her soul. Born and brought up in the garden city of Bangalore, it’s no surprise that the city’s thriving rich traditions rooted in all fields of art, bore a great influence on her paintings.
Geetha truly believes all that art shows us, is our own soul. It is art, and art alone, that reveals us to ourselves. Her goal as an artist is to create works that depict beauty in the simple things that surround us, and yet go unnoticed. Always one to improvise, her painting style and compositions continue to undergo changes. Windows to new possibilities open with every new innovative and creative work.
She constantly seeks to push her boundaries, working with new materials and mediums, feeling an immense sense of satisfaction in being able to transform her canvases into different textures like wood, brick and cloth.
Beautiful and often unobserved little creatures that are part of everyday life adorn her canvases. Finding beauty in simple objects affords Geetha immense pleasure and satisfaction. Her approach to painting is extremely intensive and yet fluid, divulging the many variations that occur from conception to completion.
Geetha feels a sense of accomplishment when her work can be interwoven with people’s lives, and it is the greatest satisfaction to her as an artist when she know that her work is loved and appreciated. Her fascination with colours led her to paint on myriad surfaces like pottery and ceramics, and eventually led to the shift to oils on canvas.
Geetha is a multi-talented individual. She did her Post Graduation in Marketing and Advertising and also Holds a B.A. Honours (Economics) Bangalore, and a B.Ed. from Delhi. She worked on canvas under the guidance of Sri. Rameshwar Broota at Triveni Kala Sangam, New Delhi and taught pottery painting and Child Psychology at D.A.V. Teacher’s Training College for 5 years. She is a member of ‘KHOJ’, an organization working for the upliftment of underprivileged children. And she represented the ‘State of Karnataka’ on the Table Tennis team for a period of 11 years, winning many state level championships.
