Gazzal Bishnoi

Gazzal Bishnoi has been a resident of Bangalore throughout, having always loved the welcoming sense of acceptance the city exudes. She schooled at the Army Public School, attended  pre-university at Christ College, and went on to complete her Bachelors of Law from Bangalore University in 2015.

A self taught artist by experience and experimentation, colours are what define Gazzal and her artwork. She paints to know herself better, to be self-accepting and to love. She loves the interplay between the colours and her thoughts, captured by the canvas. She likes capturing the perfect imperfections in things that truly complete a picture.

Every artwork conveys a story of triumph, defeat, joy, grief, peace and turmoil, but most importantly a story that is beautiful even with its flaws. Gazzal believes that an individual’s flaws, imperfections and undying zeal to keep going are inspiring, and she strives to deliver this message through her art.

She is greatly inspired by the works of Vincent van Gogh and Claude Monet. She loves reading about the life events of artists of the world and their love for art, and believes that art is a beautiful way of expressing one’s thoughts and capturing memories. Every artwork is unique not because of its form, but because of the underlying message it delivers to its onlookers.

Gazzal’s art is a simple expression of her thoughts, and she seeks to forge a relationship with the onlookers by way of this expression. She wants audiences to relate to her artwork and connect with her thoughts. Expressions, tales and time inspire her artwork; she paints to tell a story.

She works with a myriad of mediums - water colours, acrylics, gouache, charcoal; loves working with different mediums to achieve different textures in her artwork, and give it an enhanced feel. She creates abstract pieces that capture her thoughts, landscapes that are serene and things that are aged and old, that tell a tale. Much like Vincent van Gogh once said, “I want to touch people with my art. I want them to say 'he feels deeply, he feels tenderly'. And with every passing day, I try more and more to be myself, caring relatively little whether people approve or disapprove.”

Gazzal paints for her family, friends and colleagues. Most of her artwork is bespoke. She converses with people, understands them, their life stories, the colours they like, and makes art that captures their memories, things that make them happy, and therefore, develops a connection between them and the art work.

She has conducted art classes for kids and intends to paint for a cause, giving more meaning to the lives of others and her artwork.
