The Saasan Gir National Park is the last abode of the Asiatic Lion. Due to tremendous efforts by the Government of India, the Park Officials and with amazing cooperation from the local community, the lion numbers have risen in the recent years. On a winter morning safari in the Park, we had a pleasant surprise in the form of a cute lion cub waiting for us. The cub strolled out of bushes and into the open grassland towards two lionesses who were lazing beneath a shady shrub. Sighting lion cub with lionesses, what a wonderful way to start the day!
